What is Agents of Discovery?
Agents of Discovery is an educational mobile game where people of all ages can learn about the natural, cultural, and historic resources at parks around the world. Are you ready to explore your Santa Clara County Parks in a whole new way?
Complete activities and answer questions to earn points, complete a “mission”, and receive a prize reward. A smart phone or tablet is required but the app is free, and once you download it, it does not require WiFi nor a data connection. All our missions are now available to play in English and Spanish!
How to Play Agents of Discovery:
- Download the free app, as well as the specific mission you want to do (within the app), before you visit the park:
or - Open the app on your smart phone or tablet. Select “Login” if you want to track your progress. You can also play without logging in by just selecting “Missions”. We recommend logging in to avoid loosing your progress while playing. You can play our missions in English or Spanish. To switch the language, go to "Settings".
- Choose the County Park where you want to complete a mission:
- Hellyer County Park, San José
- Martial Cottle County Park, San José
- Mount Madonna County Park, Watsonville
- Vasona Lake County Park, Los Gatos
- Head to the park, open the app, click the play icon for the park you are at, and begin your adventure!

Earn a reward by completing all the questions. Show your completion page to a Parks employee at a kiosk or visitor center to receive your reward!

Hellyer County Park
Learn about this park's history, local wildlife, and habitat conservation.
- Begin your adventure at the playground and follow the paved pathway to search for challenges.
- Public transit is available within a mile of Hellyer County Park.
- There is a $6 parking fee.
Mount Madonna County Park
Check out the unique flora and fauna of redwood forest ecosystems.
- Start near the Visitor Center/Ranger Station. Head towards the Upper Miller Trail to start. You will end up following yellow arrows, denoting the CA Newt Trail as you go along the 1.5 mile unpaved trail to search for challenges.
- Public transit is NOT available to Mount Madonna County Park.
- There is a $6 parking fee.
Martial Cottle Park
Discover the agricultural history of the Santa Clara Valley.
- Begin your adventure at the Visitor Center and follow the paved pathway to search for challenges.
- Public transit is available within a mile of Martial Cottle Park.
- There is a $6 parking fee.
Vasona Lake County Park
Explore this park's history, local waterfowl species, and freshwater
ecosystems.
- Start at any parking lot and follow the paved pathway to search for challenges.
- Public transit is available within a mile of Vasona Lake County Park.
- There is a $6 parking fee.
