Closures & Updates

Please check for trail status before you go out for a hike, a bike ride or a horseback ride.  Wet conditions may close a park to hiking, biking and equestrian use so know before you go!

Almaden Quicksilver County Park

  • Randol/Isabella trail is closed.

Anderson Lake County Park

  • Anderson Lake, Woodchoppers, and Toyon Picnic Area are closed due to dam construction until approximately 2030.

Calero County Park

  • Due to damage and high water at trail crossings, the Lisa Killough and Cottle Trail loop is closed to all users until further notice. 

  • Chiznantuk and the upper Cottle from the Killough trail to Chiznantuk are closed to all users because of high, fast water in Cherry Creek. This will be a long-term closure to bicycles and horses.

  •  D'oro Trail is closed to all users due to damage.  

  • Oak Cove trail is closed at Los Cerritos trail junction. 

  • The Lower Serpentine trail is closed due to a large mud slide.

Coyote Creek Parkway

  • Coyote Creek Trail is closed at the velodrome crossing as well as between Hellyer Park and Embedded way due to flooding and swiftly moving water. 
  • Coyote Creek Trail is closed from Metcalf Road to Bailey Road due to flooding. There is also some flooding between Bailey Road and Coyote Creek Golf Drive.

Coyote Lake Harvey Bear County Park

  • There is a partial closure of the campground due to flooding. 

  • The Savannah Trail is closed for repairs.   

Ed R. Levin County Park

  • A section of the Spring Valley Trail is closed indefinitely due to a slide.

  • Monument Peak Road (1750ft Launch Site Road) is closed indefinitely due to damage. No vehicular travel permitted. All others should exercise extreme caution if using the road and plan alternate trail routes.

Grant County Park

  • Halls Valley Trail is closed indefinitely due to storm damage.

Hellyer County Park

  • The Coyote Creek Trail is also closed at the velodrome crossing as well as between Hellyer Park and Embedded way due to flooding and swiftly moving water. 

  • The splash pad is closed for the season as of November 1, 2022.

Los Gatos Creek Dog Park

  • The dog park will be closed October 11 through the end of January 2023 for plumbing repairs and amenity upgrades.

Montalvo

  • Due to concerts in the park, expect closures from noon to sunset on the following days:  

    ·       Sunday, February 26, 2023               

    ·       Sunday, March 26, 2023           

    ·       Saturday, April 1, 2023   

Penitencia Creek

  • Upper Penitencia Creek is closed year-round to fishing.

Sanborn County Park

  • The hike in campground is closed for the season.

  • Narrow’s Trail is closed at the Sanborn Creek crossing due to high water. Visitors may still visit trails on the east bank via the bridge on the Ohlone Trail (sign posted).

Stevens Creek County Park

  • The Rim Trail is closed below the dam (between the junction with Tony Look/Stevens Creek Trail and the junction with Steven’s Canyon Road) due to flooding.

  • Tony Look/Steven’s Creek Trail is closed between the Loop Trail and Laurel Flats due to a mudslide near the pedestrian bridge.

  • Stevens Creek Reservoir is closed to boating as of Sept 11, 2020 due to low water level.

Upper Stevens Creek County Park

  •  Canyon Trail and Table Mountain Trail are closed at the crossings with Stevens Creek due to high/deep/swift water.

  • Beginning Tuesday, July 19, Table Mountain Trail will be closed until April 2023 for repair. The trail will be unsafe for the public once the work begins. Charcoal Road will remain open, but visitors will not be able to connect through to the Canyon Trail on the Table Mountain Trail. 

Uvas Canyon County Park

  • The park is open with several trail closures. Please be respectful of closure signage.

  • A reservation must be made before entering Uvas Canyon. Reservations are required seven (7) days a week including weekends and holidays beginning Jan 1, 2021.

  • The bridge on the single track section of the Waterfall Loop has been closed due to safety concerns.  Please use the adjacent fire road to bypass the bridge. Review the map for details.

Confirmation of your reservation must be printed and placed on your dashboard when parked inside of Uvas Canyon County Park.​

  • Please visit gooutsideandplay.org to make your reservation.

  • Coyote Creek / Parkway Lakes / Ogier Ponds / Guadalupe River (South of the Reservoir)​

  • Fishing has resumed as of the last Saturday in April 2022. The season will close again November 15, 2022. Please reference https://apps.wildlife.ca.gov/sportfishingregs/​ for more information.

Call (408) 355-2200 before you travel to make sure your park or reservoir of choice is open.

Casa Grande/New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum​

  • Due to a lack of heat, the New Almaden Quicksilver Mining Museum located in the historic Casa Grande is temporarily closed until repairs can be made. We currently do not have a timeline on when PG&E will complete the repairs. Sorry for the inconvenience.
