Boating Reservations

Boat launching reservations ($8.00) are recommended for Calero for weekends and holidays, starting Memorial Day weekend through the end of September.  A reservation entitles you to a spot on the water for your reserved time slot. Annual Boat Launch/Inspection Venture Passes do not include Reservations. Reservations can be made online at gooutsideandplay.org or over the phone with a Reservations agent at 408-355-2201. Regular business hours for the Reservations Department are Monday – Friday, excluding holidays, from 8:30 am – 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm 4:00 pm.

  • Boaters with reservations will be assigned a specific launch time to eliminate congestion. Boaters will not arrive prior to their assigned launch time.

All State Boating Laws apply. Please observe them and ask if you are unsure. We are happy to help. There are county ordinances that also apply for your safety – all vessels must follow a counter-clockwise direction of travel, the speed limit is 35 mph, please observe all 5mph zones, there is no swimming or wading allowed, and all vessels are subject to inspection. Please contact a Park Ranger for further information if desired.

On weekends and holidays, from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September, reservations are available. A reservation guarantees you a spot on the water.

Reservations can be made up to three weeks in advance by calling the Santa Clara County Parks & Recreation Reservations Office at (408) 355-2201 during regular business hours, or you may go to our website at gooutsideandplay.org. There is a $8 non-refundable reservation fee for every reservation made. The reservation charge does not include other customary charges.

All Santa Clara County Park reservoirs are open to boating from 8am to ½ hour before sunset.

Boaters may purchase fuel from a vendor of their choice as MTBE has been removed from the State’s fuel source. All refueling of vessels must occur in the designated refueling area, located in the trailer parking lot across from the restrooms.

**Boaters refueling on the water or along the shoreline, or placing fuel containers along the shoreline, may be cited for this violation and fined up to $500.00 (Fish & Game section 5650(a) Water Pollution).

Boat trailers must use designated stalls and park within the white lines. Failure to do so may cost another boater the opportunity to park their trailer and lessen the number of boats that can launch. Remember it is illegal to park outside the painted lines and may cost you a fine.

BBQ’s and/or fires are not allowed along the shoreline for fire safety reasons.
