Pieces of the Past School Program

Bernal School Program roping activity

-IN-PERSON- Pieces of the Past – early California history and rancho life
Location: Bernal-Gulnac-Joice Ranch at Santa Teresa County Park​ in San Jose
Grade Level(s): K/1
Maximum Number of Students: 30
Language: English
Program Duration: 1 hour (9:30 - 1:30 and 11:15 - 12:15)
Program Fee: FREE

Overview: Through activities in the ranch area and a visit to the Santa Teresa Springs, students explore the basic needs of people then and now, and learn about the Bernal Ranch area's past inhabitants, including the Muwekma Ohlone, Californio ranchers, and the Bernal family.  

The Pieces of the Past Teaching and Activity Guide provides information and activities that support the in-person program.

The field trip aligns with California History-Social Science standards for grades K/1.
