Following the Sanborn Forest Health Plan - Join Park Rangers, Maintenance, and Resource Management Staff in collecting dead and down brush, tree limbs, and remove small shrubs to create piles that will be later burned. This will help to create a shaded fuel break around structures in the park and improve the health of the forest in the area.


Parking will be at the Costanoan parking area and work will take place in the area of the Dyer House and Sanborn Trail.


Volunteers may use hand saws or other hand tools with instruction and a safety talk provided by park staff.
Volunteers should wear long sleeved shirt and pants, dressing in layers for the cool and damp climate of the Santa Cruz Mountains. Closed toed shoes with good tread, ie. boots, are highly recommended. Please bring your own work gloves as limited loaner gloves are available, as well as a refillable water bottle.

Snacks and water refills provided by park staff.

Volunteers are building piles to be burned at a later date. No burning shall take place on site on this date.
